Be it carefully planned long term welfare measures or swift help in times of crises, the Hinduja Foundation has done its bit to bring smiles back to helpless faces. Support to disease eradication measures, reconstruction of housing for the quake and cyclone affected, provision of drinking water to remote Indian villages are some of the Foundation’s notable projects in this area. The Hinduja Foundation also supports various organizations and initiatives working for social welfare.
Some of the notable efforts in this area are:
- Construction of houses for 1999 Orissa cyclone victims, creating earthquake–resistant housing for 2001 Gujarat quake victims.
- Leprosy Eradication: Donation to the Leprosy Mission in setting up the Regional Vocational Training Centre for Rehabilitation of Leprosy Affected in Vadathorasalur in Tamil Nadu. The Foundation also gives financial help to various other NGOs working for leprosy eradication.
- Polio Eradication and Immunisation initiative with WHO & the Rotary International: The Foundation supported a “Drinking Water for the Millions Programme” in the less accessible areas of five Indian states; Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
- Support to ISKCON’s Food For Life Programme.
- Donations to Save a Child, Foster Plan UK and Plan International in UK, and donations to a number of NGOs.
- Organizes blood donation camps.
